LAHORE: A petition has been filed before the Lahore High Court challenging the increase in high-octane fuel prices to Rs200 per litre.
The Judicial Activism Penal in its miscellaneous application contended that the levy on high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles has been increased from Rs100 to Rs300 per litre.
The petitioner through its counsel said that the price hike does not align with international market trends. The counsel contended that the increase in price of the fuel would trigger a new wave of inflation. He, therefore, asked the court to seek details of the petroleum pricing formula and taxes. He also asked the court to direct the government to stop further arbitrary increases in fuel prices.
