ISLAMABAD: The 33rd meeting of the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) was held here on Friday with Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Khalid Hussain Magsi in the chair.

The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Shahid Iqbal Baloch; Director General PSQCA, Dr Sayeda Zia Batool; Director Trade Policy, Attaullah Khan, along with other senior officials of the Authority.

The Board approved a number of significant reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and improving employee welfare. Key decisions included sanctioning initiatives to modernise PSQCA’s digital infrastructure, aligning the Authority with international best practices and supporting the national “Digital Pakistan” vision. The forum also approved expanded health insurance and welfare benefits for all PSQCA employees, reflecting the Authority’s commitment to staff wellbeing and social security.

Addressing the participants, the federal minister asked the concerned officials to ensure the swift, transparent, and effective implementation of all approved measures. He emphasised that these reforms are fully aligned with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, which focuses on strengthening governance, improving national standards, enhancing transparency in regulatory institutions, and promoting a modern and competitive economic environment. The federal minister further reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the national quality infrastructure, improving regulatory oversight, and facilitating ease of doing business for local industry while ensuring consumer safety and protection.
