PM Shehbaz grieved over deaths of Pakistani nationals in Dubai missile debris incident

  • Says 'our heart goes out to the bereaved family in the hour of grief'

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the death of two Pakistani nationals in Dubai after debris from a missile interception fell on a vehicle in the emirate.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of two Pakistani nationals in Dubai caused by missile debris,” the prime minister said in a statement on X.

According to authorities in the United Arab Emirates, the incident occurred in Dubai’s Al Barsha area when debris from an aerial interception operation fell on a car, killing the Pakistani driver at the scene.

The Dubai Media Office said the vehicle was struck by fragments resulting from an air defence interception amid heightened regional tensions.

The development comes as the Middle East has witnessed escalating hostilities in recent days, with missile and drone exchanges triggering multiple air defence responses across parts of the Gulf region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said Pakistan’s diplomatic missions in the UAE were in close contact with Dubai authorities to provide all necessary assistance and facilitate the repatriation of the victim’s remains.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” the prime minister said.

Pakistan has a large expatriate community in the United Arab Emirates, with hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis living and working across the country.
