LAHORE: Punjab Finance Minister and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rahman announced on Monday that the government had completed its preparatory work on Air Punjab and that a quality airline will be launched for the public by the end of this year.

Addressing a press conference in the media hall of the Punjab Assembly, he also noted that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz works from nine in the morning until late in the evening, and that she, along with the entire cabinet, remains present in the Punjab Assembly whenever required.

Mujtaba stated that the government will be in a position to hold local body elections in Punjab between September and November of this year, in accordance with the Election Commission’s schedule.

Commenting on the PECA Act, he said there is nothing objectionable in the legislation, as similar laws exist in all developed nations around the world, though he acknowledged that changes could be made through dialogue if any concrete suggestions were put forward.

He warned that hoarders and profiteers will be dealt with an iron hand and that artificial price hikes during the holy month of Ramadan will not be tolerated, adding that Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA), price control teams, and the agriculture department are, for the first time, actively imposing punishments and fines.
