‘Maryam Nawaz Mother and Child Health Center’: foundation stone laid
LAHORE: Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir formally laid the foundation stone of the revamping project of ‘Maryam Nawaz Mother and Child Health Center’ here at Joray Pull.
The objective of this project is to ensure the provision of modern and quality medical facilities to women and children in the area and to further strengthen the health infrastructure.
A large number of people of the area including former member of Punjab Assembly Muhammad Waheed Gul attended the foundation stone laying ceremony and appreciated the practical steps and public welfare projects of the Punjab government in the health sector.
Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, speaking on the occasion said that maternal and child health is the top priority of the government and for this purpose, old health centers are being revamped according to modern requirements. After up-gradation, this center will be equipped with modern machinery, trained staff and better facilities. This would facilitate the local population, as they would not have to go to distant areas for treatment, he said.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, comprehensive steps are being taken for the improvement of basic health centers and mother and child centers across the province. The completion of this project will not only reduce the maternal and child mortality rate but also bring health services to the doorsteps of the common citizen, he added.
The provincial ministers reiterated their commitment that timely completion of development projects will be ensured and transparent, quality and dignified medical facilities will be provided to the people. The people of the area appreciated this initiative and thanked the government and expressed hope for the early completion of the project, they added.
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, while expressing his views, said that the construction of ‘Maryam Nawaz Maternal and Child Health Center’ equipped with modern facilities to be completed within the stipulated time frame. The new center will provide the best treatment facilities to mothers and children, he said. The government is taking serious steps to reduce maternal and child mortality, he added.
Khawaja Imran Nazir said that expert gynaecologists, paediatricians and trained staff will be deployed in the center to extend quality medical facilities to mothers and newborns under one roof. He said that the health system is being further strengthened on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
