KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed all Deputy Commissioners to continue the campaign against roadside encroachments to ease traffic flow in the city, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
“Special measures should be taken to maintain traffic flow on busy roads and streets during Ramadan. Traffic congestion makes it very difficult for people to reach their homes on time for Iftar.”
He also directed the Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Police to take the required steps to maintain traffic flow during Ramadan and ensure citizens don’t face difficulties due to traffic congestion.
The DCs of East, Central, Malir and West districts reported to the Commissioner on actions taken against roadside encroachments. In various districts, 20 locations were cleared of encroachments, 6 shops were sealed in District South and 3 seating arrangements were removed. The areas under action were included Khori Garden, Cycle Market, Burns Road, and Mansfield Street.
