LAHORE: Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yaseen on Thursday unveiled the trophy at the opening ceremony of Punjab’s first Premier League 2026.
The ceremony was held at the WASA Lahore office and was attended by senior officers and representatives from various government departments attended the ceremony. The Punjab Premier League (PPL) was being organised for the first time in Punjab. Teams from WASA Punjab, LDA, Rescue 1122, Punjab Revenue Authority, Punjab Food Authority, and PMDFC will compete in the league, while PITB, Lahore Police, Punjab Police, Civil Secretariat, Urban Unit, and RUDA teams will also participate.
The PPL matches will commence from February 18, with a total of 33 matches scheduled. The final match will be played in March, and all matches will be held at the EME DHA Ground.
While addressing the ceremony, the Minister stated that officers and employees from 12 departments of the Government of Punjab will participate in exciting cricket matches during the league. He added that just as all departments are improving their administrative performance, they will demonstrate the same spirit and excellence on the sports field as well.
He further remarked that after the basant festival, the passion for cricket is now beginning, and he is eagerly looking forward to February 18, when officers and employees will come together on the cricket field.
The representatives of all departments appreciated the organisation of the Punjab Premier League and expressed their commitment that the event will play an important role in promoting inter-departmental harmony, healthy competition, and sports culture among government institutions.
