PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, and President of PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam, said that the public had effectively rejected TTAP’s strike call by keeping businesses open and daily life moving.
Speaking to a large crowd under the banner of the “Save Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Movement,” Muqam said the province had been treated like a “testing ground” for 13 years and that people were now questioning why the pace of development seen across the Attock border was not visible in KP.
The minister pointed to demands for laptops, scholarships, better hospitals with free medicines, and progress in agriculture, saying the youth in particular were comparing conditions with Punjab and asking for similar opportunities.
Amir Muqam criticised the provincial government over law and order, saying insecurity in southern districts had made life difficult for residents. Referring to a recent terrorist incident in Islamabad, he thanked the police for swiftly apprehending those involved.
He also questioned the idea of a provincial chief minister calling for businesses to close, saying it harmed people’s livelihoods.
Amir Muqam praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s performance and said the federal leadership prioritized dialogue and national interest.
The minister claimed that PML-N gatherings drew people voluntarily and predicted that the party would soon form a government in KP, promising to replicate Punjab’s development model there.
