US, UK condemn Balochistan attacks, reaffirm support for Pakistan

  • Charge d'Affaires says United States remains steadfast partner of Pakistan in its efforts to ensure peace and stability

The United States has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks carried out in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on January 31, expressing solidarity with Pakistan and reaffirming its commitment to peace and stability in the country.

In a statement, US Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker denounced the attacks, which targeted security personnel and civilians and were claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a US-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.

“On behalf of the United States, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of terrorism, their families, and all those affected,” Baker said.

“The Pakistani people deserve to live free from violence and fear. The United States remains a steadfast partner of Pakistan in its efforts to ensure peace and stability. We stand in solidarity with Pakistan during this difficult time.”

The condemnation comes after a wave of coordinated attacks across multiple districts in Balochistan, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. The attacks claimed the lives of at least 18 civilians and 15 security personnel, according to officials.

Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies launched extensive clearance and intelligence-based operations in response. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that 92 terrorists, including three suicide bombers, were killed in operations over the past day.

This brought the total number of terrorists killed in Balochistan over two days to 133, following the elimination of 41 others in separate operations on January 29.

According to ISPR, 30 terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Harnai district, while 11 were eliminated in Panjgur.

International condemnation has continued to pour in. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the attacks, reaffirming its rejection of all forms of terrorism and expressing solidarity with Pakistan.

“The Kingdom expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and to the government and people of Pakistan, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” the Saudi statement said.

The United Kingdom also condemned the violence, with the British High Commission stating that it stood with Pakistan in rejecting terrorism and supporting peace and security. Türkiye’s embassy in Islamabad issued a similar message, offering condolences and pledging continued support for Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who visited Quetta following the attacks, said investigations were underway and vowed that those responsible, including planners and facilitators, would be pursued without exception.

The security situation has disrupted transport links in the region. Pakistan Railways said train services from Quetta to other parts of Balochistan remained suspended for a second consecutive day. Several highways linking Punjab to Balochistan were also closed, with authorities citing security concerns.

Officials said normal services would resume once the situation stabilises.
