Pakistan, Bangladesh resume direct air connectivity after 14 years
- The return flight from Karachi to Dhaka departs with 140 passengers on board
Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday resumed direct air connectivity after a 14-year suspension, as Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated its first commercial flight from Dhaka to Karachi.
The inaugural flight, carrying 150 passengers, landed at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, where a special reception ceremony was held to mark the occasion. The return flight from Karachi to Dhaka departed with 140 passengers on board.
Addressing the ceremony, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori termed the resumption of direct flights a historic development, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

The event was attended by the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan, along with senior officials from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), and the Airports Security Force (ASF).
Biman Bangladesh Airlines will initially operate two weekly flights between Karachi and Dhaka using Boeing 737 aircraft. The restoration of direct air links is expected to facilitate trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
