ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed three militants affiliated with Indian proxy Fitnatul Hindustan during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted following reports of militant presence in the area.
The ISPR said security personnel cordoned off the location and engaged the suspects, resulting in an exchange of fire in which three militants were killed.
“Those killed were identified as Farooq alias Soro, described as a local commander, and two others, Adeel and Waseem,” the statement said.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site, the ISPR said, adding the militants had been involved in multiple attacks in the area and said sanitisation operations were ongoing to “eliminate any other terrorists.”
Reaffirming its commitment to counterterrorism, the military said operations under its ongoing campaign would continue against what it described as foreign-sponsored militancy.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for the operation against militants linked to Fitnatul Hindustan.
