KARACHI: Indus Motor Company (IMC) has achieved a prestigious milestone by receiving “Zero Defect” status from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), positioning Pakistan among Toyota’s elite global production facilities.
According to the details, the recognition follows Toyota’s rigorous Shipping Quality Audit (SQA), a comprehensive global assessment that measures adherence to the company’s stringent quality standards across all manufacturing affiliates worldwide.
To commemorate this achievement, a high-level delegation from Toyota Motor Asia (TMA), Singapore, visited IMC’s manufacturing plant in Pakistan. The delegation was led by Masahiko Maeda, CEO of Toyota Motor Asia, and senior executives, including Hiroshi Nasu and Shunsuke Shibayama (Executive Vice Presidents), Ryuzo Miwa (Vice President), Hiroki Kogiso (Project General Manager), and Shinya Terashima (Project Manager).
During the visit, Toyota leadership commended IMC’s consistent alignment with Toyota’s global manufacturing and quality standards. The Zero Defect status is a rare distinction that reflects IMC’s world-class production systems, disciplined processes, and highly skilled workforce.
Mohammed Ali R Habib, Chairman of Indus Motor Company, emphasized the significance of the achievement in the context of evolving global value chains. “It is imperative for countries like Pakistan to demonstrate reliability, consistency, and competitiveness—attributes that this recognition firmly reinforces,” he stated.
Habib said that such accomplishments strengthen customer confidence, elevate Pakistan’s industrial reputation, and underscore the strategic importance of nurturing advanced manufacturing capabilities for national economic growth.
IMC CEO Ali Asghar Jamali described the recognition as a moment of national and organizational pride. “This is a global validation of Pakistan’s manufacturing excellence and IMC’s unwavering commitment to the Toyota Way,” he said.
