The head of army’s media wing has told a representative delegation of country’s leading ulema that unity and consensus on matters of national security and narratives are need of the hour during a comprehensive discussion on internal security challenges in the context of Fitna al Khwaraij, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan.
His is a right approach to addressing the security challenges and seeking a solution to them. The ulema, in my view, can play a highly important role in building narratives in relation to the national security. Mosques and seminaries can be most suitable platforms to propagate the security challenges the forces inimical to the state of Pakistan are posing to the people of Pakistan.
Needless to say, religious leaders can use the pulpit to address the root causes of insecurity by clearly identifying them, and foster a safer, more cohesive society. They can be the true agents of peace and security.
