LAHORE: The Virtual Women Police Station (VWPS) has emerged as a revolutionary initiative in Punjab, ensuring women’s protection and providing easy access to justice.

This platform has made policing transparent, efficient and women-friendly, enabling services to be delivered remotely through advanced digital technology. Since its inception, the VWPS has received a total of 780,538 cases, out of which 705,420 cases have been successfully resolved, and 75,110 FIR’s were registered .

The nature of these complaints reflects the serious threats and violence faced by women, including 1,304 murder and honor killing cases, 198 acid attack cases, 5,282 rape cases, 12,013 abduction cases, and 3,444,785 domestic violence cases.

According to PSCA, during 2025 VWPS received 555,459 complaints, of which 505,101 cases were successfully resolved and 49,447 cases were registered as FIRs.

These effective measures resulted in 608 women being rescued from life-threatening situations, highlighting the Punjab government’s unwavering commitment to women’s protection. The VWPS provides comprehensive support from FIR registration to the completion of prosecution. Post-FIR services included legal consultation, case progress updates, conference calls with investigating officers and evidence submission.

Women can easily contact VWPS through phone (15), WhatsApp (03070000015), the Women Safety App, and the Public Safety App, via voice, video calls, and chat. Complaints can also be registered using the panic button feature.Initially, VWPS received 100 to 150 cases daily, which has now increased to 2,000 to 2,500 cases per day, reflecting public trust, transparency, and operational efficiency. The AI-Based Gender Voice Recognition System ensures that only women’s calls are received, maintaining complete confidentiality and security.

When women call the station, they are provided with a unique link that allows direct access to the VWPS portal, where they can monitor the progress of their cases. Additionally, the Public Safety App enables women to track all details of their complaints and cases online. The real-life successes and stories of affected women can also be viewed on the VWPS Facebook page: https://www.facebook .com/VWPSofficial

According to Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the VWPS provides women with direct, home-based access to police services through modern technology, exemplifying transparent, effective, and citizen-friendly policing.

Under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, this platform has proven to be an effective and revolutionary tool for providing women full support and prompt resolution of their issues. The Punjab Government remains committed to women’s protection, swift justice, and continuous innovation in digital policing.
