KARACHI: Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad visited the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday and congratulated the newly elected office bearers of the club on their success.
He presented the traditional Sindhi shawls “Ajrak” to President Fazil Jamili, Vice President Irshad Khokhar, Secretary Muhammad Aslam Khan, Joint Secretary Farooq Sami and Treasurer Imran Ayub, and the members of the Governing Body: Abdul Jabbar Nasir, Akhtar Soomro, Sheema Siddiqui, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Farid Alam and Javed Mehar.
He expressed hope that the new leadership will play its full role in serving the journalistic community.
The Deputy Mayor said that the success of the Democrats Panel for 18 consecutive years reflected confidence of the journalistic community in the panel.
He said that the Karachi Press Club has always played a prominent role in promoting democratic values and freedom of the press and this institution is the backbone of the city of Karachi. Journalism is a strong and important pillar of the society.
Salman Abdullah Murad said that the newly elected leadership is expected to make every effort to resolve the problems of journalists and continue to highlight the voice of the people in an effective manner.
He also assured of Karachi Metropolitan Municipality’s full cooperation to the journalists’ community.
