KARACHI: A high-level review and coordination meeting was held, here on Thursday to assess inter-departmental coordination and preparedness for the Asia-Pacific Shelter Forum, APSSF- 2026–– scheduled to be held from 11 to 13 February here. It was presided over by Sindh Chief Secretary, Asif Hyder Shah.

The Government of Sindh is hosting the Asia-Pacific Shelter Forum (APSSF) 2026, a globally recognised platform that brings together government officials, international organizations, development partners, donors, regional leaders, shelter clusters, and humanitarian actors.

The Forum aims to strengthen coordination, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices in the shelter and settlements sector across the Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting reviewed key coordination aspects, including security arrangements, protocol and logistics, traffic management, venue readiness, international delegation facilitation, and media and communication planning.

Emphasis was placed on ensuring seamless coordination among all departments to meet the requirements of a high-profile international forum.

Participants in the meeting included the Inspector General of Police, Sindh; Chairman Planning & Development Department; Commissioner, Karachi; Chief Executive Officer - SPHF, Secretaries of General Administration, Transport, Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, and Information Departments; Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic), Karachi; Director General Protocol (SGA&CD); Municipal Commissioner, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation; along with representatives of the Pakistan Rangers, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant stakeholders.

The Chief Secretary directed all concerned departments to maintain close coordination, adhere to established timelines, and ensure that arrangements are aligned with required security, protocol, and operational standards for the successful conduct of APSSF-2026.
