Ongoing counterterrorism exercise ‘Warrior-IX’: Pakistan, China mark Distinguished Visitors Day
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China on Thursday marked the Distinguished Visitors Day of their ongoing joint counterterrorism exercise Warrior-IX, as senior leaders from both countries reaffirmed their commitment to deeper military cooperation and regional security.
The exercise, which began on November 28 and will continue until December 14 at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, is aimed at strengthening interoperability between the Pakistan Army and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. Over the two weeks, participating troops are conducting a series of advanced counterterrorism drills designed to enhance coordination, tactical skills, and joint operational readiness.
China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Jiang Zaidong, attended the Distinguished Visitors Day ceremony as Chief Guest, along with senior PLA dignitaries. The Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army was present as the Guest of Honour.
During the visit, the honourable guests were briefed on the scope, objectives and progression of the exercise. They also witnessed a range of counterterrorism demonstrations showcasing the training standards and capabilities of both forces. The visiting officials praised the professionalism, operational competence, and high morale of the participating troops.
Officials noted that Warrior-IX reflects the robust and enduring defence partnership between Pakistan and China, underscoring the shared resolve of both armed forces to collaborate closely in the fight against terrorism and contribute to regional peace and stability.
