CTD foils major terror plot, arrests 12 suspects ‘linked to India’s RAW’
- Seven IED bombs, two detonators, a large quantity of explosives, weapons recovered
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab announced a major breakthrough on Monday, stating that they have averted massive destruction in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur by arresting 12 alleged terrorists with confirmed links to the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Aaj News reported.
The CTD operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial cache of material intended for terrorist acts, including, seven IED bombs, two detonators, a large quantity of explosives, weapons, cash, mobile phones, and 102 feet of safety fuse wire.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the suspects possessed sensitive photos, videos, and location data targeting sensitive institutions, terrorists, a seminary, and a public fair/festival, indicating planned terrorist activity.
CTD arrests 24 ‘terrorists belonging to banned outfits’
The CTD confirmed that all arrested individuals were receiving heavy funding directly from RAW. The investigation was aided by the identification of a key Facebook ID named “Adil” operating from India, which was allegedly facilitating the RAW network.
The arrested suspects, who include Sukhdeep Singh, Azmat, Faizan, and others from various districts, reportedly intended to spread chaos and incite religious hatred across Punjab.
The CTD has registered cases against the suspects, identified as being part of the “Fitna-ul-Hindustan” network, while further investigation is underway.
