ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed 13 Indian-sponsored militants in two major intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking a significant blow to the Indian proxy network Al-Khwarij, the military said on Friday.
According to ISPR, the operations were conducted between 20 and 21 November in Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan districts following confirmed reports of militant presence.
In the first operation, launched in the Paharkhel area of Lakki Marwat, security forces and law enforcement agencies jointly engaged the hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, ten militants were eliminated.
In a second intelligence-driven engagement in Dera Ismail Khan, three militants were neutralised. Weapons and ammunition were also seized from the killed fighters, who, per ISPR, were involved in attacks on security forces, law enforcement personnel, and targeted killings of civilians.
ISPR added that sanitization efforts are ongoing to clear the area of any remaining militants. The counterterrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on NAP, will continue with full force to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
