Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC): Message from Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan

It is an honour to welcome the distinguished Speakers and Parliamentary Delegations to Islamabad for the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC).

At a time when the world faces economic headwinds, climate stress, and complex security challenges, parliaments must lead with clarity, conviction, and collective resolve to transform consensus into legislation and vision into measurable progress.

This Conference offers a timely and practical platform to deliberate on solutions, enhance institutional capacity, and foster deeper inter-parliamentary cooperation. Its theme, "Peace, Security, and Development," resonates deeply with Pakistan's own national priorities: ensuring the safety of our citizens, accelerating inclusive growth, building climate resilience, and advancing regional connectivity.

I commend the Founding Chairman of the ISC and Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, for his leadership in convening this landmark gathering and for mobilizing global parliamentary leaders and multilateral partners to transform parliamentary diplomacy from aspiration into action.

Pakistan stands ready to work closely with fellow legislators to modernize parliamentary practices, strengthen transparency and oversight, and promote people-centred sustainable development. Let us commit to actionable recommendations, realistic timelines, and follow-up mechanisms that ensure this Conference becomes a movement for sustained collaboration.
