ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that Pakistan and Iran are committed to working together for the unity of the Muslim world, emphasizing that both nations, having been victims of terrorism, share a common resolve for global peace and prosperity.
In a meeting with Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, who is visiting Islamabad with a delegation, Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in strengthening cooperation with Iran, especially in the areas of economic development and bilateral trade.
Sharif reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to resolving global disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy. He also extended his respect to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pazeshkian.
He condemned state-sponsored terrorism, emphasizing that both countries have consistently supported each other in the face of aggression against their sovereignty.
Speaker Ghalibaf expressed deep gratitude to the prime minister and the people of Pakistan for their strong support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict, especially the backing Pakistan showed during the 12-day war.
He praised the unity shared by Pakistan and Iran, highlighting their mutual belief in the solidarity of the Muslim World and the promotion of global peace.
The Iranian Speaker also acknowledged the positive cooperation between the parliaments of both countries and conveyed a message of warmth from Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian to Prime Minister Sharif and the people of Pakistan.
