LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Friday granted an eight-day physical remand of the PTI founder’s nephew and Aleema Khanum’s son Shahzer Khan in the Corps Commander House attack case.

Earlier, Sarwar Road police produced Shahzer Khan before the court under strict security arrangements.

The investigating officer sought 30-day physical remand of the suspect to complete the investigation. He also submitted the case record before the court.

Shahzer’s counsel opposed the physical remand and argued that the police had no material evidence for seeking remand.

The lawyer contended that the suspect was arrested after a delay of two years, whereas his mother Aleema Khan had already been discharged from the case.

The counsel stated that Shahzer was arrested merely because he was the nephew of the PTI founder. He argued that the suspect had no connection with PTI’s political matters and that he was a renowned athlete of the country.

He argued that Shahzer be discharged from the case.

Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan were also present in the court.

The court after hearing the arguments, reserved the verdict on the remand request.

Later, the court allowed the remand of the suspect for eight days.

Talking to the media outside the court, Aleema Khan said the police arrested her son in retaliation to the bail granted to the PTI founding chairman in eight cases of May 9 riots.

She said Shahzer was either busy with his business or representing Pakistan and had never been involved in political activities. She said the government thinks they can intimidate the party workers by jailing their family members. “We only fear God,” she added.
