The Sindh government will declare Mado and Fareedabad union councils of Dadu district calamity-hit areas, Haleem Adil Shaikh, Adviser to Chief Minister for Relief said this while addressing a press conference here at KPC on Thursday. Balochistan's flood water has badly affected two major union councils Mado and Fareedabad of district Dadu. Thousands of people have been displaced, he said.
Relief department's Colonel Shehryar (Retd), Malik Aziz, Abdul Waheed Panhwer and others were present on the occasion. Haleem Adil Shaikh said more than 0.2 million rain-affected people were still living in relief camps established by the Relief department. Balochistan's flood water is still travelling from Sindh which has badly affected two major UCs of district Dadu, he added.
He said that he had visited the affected areas of Dadu a couple of days ago, people were travelling on boats and they were stuck up in their houses. We had provided all kind of facilities to them but they were still needy. Haleem Adil Shaikh said that he had written a letter to Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, so it is most probably that both UCs would be declared calamity hit very soon.
He said that he and his team would celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with the flood affected people in Jacobabad where he would arrange an 'Eid Milan Party' for about 50,000 rain-hit affected people. Besides it, a music mastic programme would also be arranged on the same day for the children of rain-victim families, he added.
Haleem Adil Shaikh said that more than 256 people had lost their lives during the recent heavy rains/flood and Sindh government had paid compensation to their families. Meanwhile, Secretary General PML-Q (Sindh chapter) said that he had not witnessed a single camp of any political party in rain-affected areas.
