ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government shares the feelings and pain of the martyred families with regard to the May 9 event and promises to them he would make sure that a day like this (May 9) is not repeated in the country.

While addressing an event organised to pay homage to the martyrs and their families, the prime minister termed May 9 as “Black Day” in the history of the country.

He said the attackers and their masters have not apologised to the families of martyrs so far which simply indicates that May 9 was a planned event against the institutions.

Shehbaz Sharif said that he was feeling proud to be present with the families of brave martyrs and saluted them for their courage not only on his own behalf but also on the behalf of the entire nation.

He added that the nation would remember them as they have written the history of the country with their blood.

The prime minister said that Pakistan forces have given a befitting response to the enemy not just in 2019 but also in the past as well.

The prime minister said that he would not repeat his cabinet speech and would only state that whenever there was a challenging time for the country whether in the form of war or flood, these heroes have saved the country.

The premier said that nobody would be allowed to touch those who were found innocent in 9 May but those found guilty would be given exemplary punishment so that no one could dare such things in the future.

He assured the families that the law would take its course and those who have done enmity to the country would not get away from punishment.

He said that the government is fully aware of the way the armed forces are taking care of the families of the martyrs and emphasised to replicate this model in the country.

He said he was moved by the example and would make an effort to replicate it in the country as well. The parents of the martyrs were presented a standing ovation by the people sitting in the hall.
