Meeting with ABAD members: Turkiye CG interested in joint construction ventures

KARACHI: In a bid to strengthen economic ties and foster collaboration between builders and developers of Pakistan and Turkiye, Consul General of Turkiye, Cemal Sangu, has announced a visionary initiative that aims to unite the two nations through joint construction ventures. Sangu’s announcement came during a gathering of members of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) at the ABAD House.

With a fervent belief that Pakistan and Turkiye share not only geographical proximity but also a profound historical and cultural bond, Consul General Sangu articulated his vision of a shared destiny, emphasizing that these two nations are akin to a single nation despite being separate entities.

At the ABAD meeting, Sangu unveiled a strategic plan that included granting a Multi Entry Visa of one to five years to ABAD members. This initiative will facilitate seamless interaction between the builders and developers of the two countries. The aim is to enable professionals to collaborate, exchange ideas, and leverage each other’s expertise for mutual economic upliftment.

“The potential for collaboration between the construction sectors of Pakistan and Turkiye is enormous,” Sangu asserted, adding that the construction industry possesses the power to serve as a robust pillar for the economies of both nations.

Sangu urged ABAD members to take the opportunity to visit Turkiye and engage with their Turkish counterparts. The envisioned exchange of construction techniques, architectural insights, and innovative designs is expected to pave the way for not only economic growth but also the establishment of enduring professional relationships.

In line with the proposed collaboration, Sangu encouraged ABAD to organize an exclusive exhibition of Pakistani builders and developers in Turkiye. This exhibition could potentially showcase the innovative prowess and capabilities of Pakistani professionals on an international platform.

Addressing the current trade volume between Pakistan and Turkiye, Sangu expressed his conviction that the current levels, although friendly, are far from realizing the full potential of their bilateral relations. He drew attention to the substantial trade Pakistan conducts with European nations and posed the question of why a similar success story cannot be scripted between Pakistan and Turkiye.

Highlighting the accomplishments of the Turkish construction industry, Sangu conveyed his aspiration for ABAD members to unite forces with their Turkish counterparts to explore new avenues and bring a fresh perspective to construction endeavors.

To ensure the smooth facilitation of these interactions, Sangu declared his intention to issue Multi Entry Visas to Turkiye, empowering ABAD members to engage in frequent cross-border exchanges for knowledge sharing and collaboration.

The announcement by Consul General Sangu was met with appreciation from ABAD officials. Altaf Tai, Chairman of ABAD, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to tap into the modern techniques and methodologies of Turkish construction firms. Tai also underlined the dire need for affordable housing units in Pakistan, indicating that Turkish construction expertise could play a pivotal role in alleviating the nation’s housing crisis.
