MUZAFFARABAD: Kashmiri emigrants worldwide will be able to send remittances to their dear ones in Azad Kashmir with the help of Western Union, which operates in 200 countries and regions around the world through Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

An agreement was reached between Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Sindh Bank on Wednesday. The Chief Guest of the signing ceremony was the state minister for Finance, Cooperatives and Inland Revenue and Chairman Board of Directors Khan Abdul Majid Khan.

In the presence of Chairman along with President Bank Khawar Saeed and other executives the agreement was signed by Bank of AJK Divisional Head Operations Zamurrad Hussain and Sindh Bank Head PSD Hasnain A. Merchant.

On this occasion, Western Union agreement documents related to home remittances were exchanged. Now, with the cooperation of Sindh Bank, immediate and timely payment of remittances sent by immigrants to Azad Kashmir has been ensured. Chairman said that immigrants are our valuable assets. The financial institution of the state is serious in ensuring the provision of all possible facilities to overseas Kashmiris.

Under the agreement, millions of overseas Kashmiri migrants can send money home within minutes via Western Union to Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s network of 81 branches across the state. A lot of efforts have been made to put the bank on its feet so that the economy of Azad Kashmir can be developed.

The bank has taken great steps for the economic and social development of the state. The finance minister said that the cooperation of the two banks will prove beneficial not only for the customers of Kashmir Bank but for both the banks as a whole.

He said that the branches of Kashmir Bank have been established in such remote areas where no other bank can reach which is the unique feature of this bank. Both banks will work together to provide maximum benefit and convenience to customers. With this cooperation, not only abroad but also at the national level, people will be able to send money to the Bank of Azad Kashmir. He said that remittances play an important role in the economic development of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.
