ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported over 3,000 coronavirus cases for the first time since September 15, 2021 with a positivity ratio 6.12 percent, which is the highest ratio of the past four months, the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC)’s data revealed.

The NCOC data released here on Thursday showed that the country registered 3,019 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall infections’ tally to 1,312,267.

According to the NCOC, the Covid-19 positivity ratio in the past 24 hours was recorded at 6.12 percent as 3,019 Covid-19 cases were detected after 49,270 tests were conducted. Last time, Pakistan has reported above six percent Covid-19 positivity ratio was on September 8, 2021.

The country, so far has carried out a total of 23,984,502 coronavirus tests.

In the past 24 hours, some 346 coronavirus patients have recovered taking Pakistan’s total recoveries to 1,260,045.

Country reports highest Covid-19 infections in 4 months

Moreover, after a rapid increase in the Covid-19 infections in the country during past two weeks, the number of active Covid-19 cases have jumped to 23,230 cases that two weeks ago were a little over 10,000.

At present, a total 651 coronavirus patients are in critical condition and admitted in various Covid-19 dedicated health facilities.

Out of 23,230 active Covid-19 cases in the country, 14,669 are in Sindh, 6,629 in Punjab, 623 in KPK, 1,186 in the ICT, 41 in the AJK, 44 in Balochistan, and eight in the GB.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of coronavirus deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa KPK).

Since pandemic outbreak, Punjab has reported a total 13,084 Covid-19 deaths, Sindh 7,691, KPK 5,948, ICT 967, AJK 749, Balochistan 367, and GB 186.

In terms of coronavirus infections, Sindh with 491,743 Covid-19 cases is on top followed by Punjab with 449,843 cases; KPK is with 181,906 cases, ICT 109,944 cases, AJK 34,719 cases, Balochistan 33,675 cases, and GB 10,437 cases.

In the past 24 hours, Sindh reported 1,733 cases and no deaths, Punjab reported 919 cases and one death, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa reported 64 cases and three deaths, ICT reported 284 cases, Balochistan reported 11 cases, AJK reported four cases and one death, and GB reported four cases.

The health authorities in the country, so far, have managed to administer a total 165,296,972 Covid-19 vaccine jabs to the people, of them, 100,797,079 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 386,788 in the past 24 hours.

According to the NCOC, 75,686,387 citizens have been fully vaccinated, of them 461,167 got their second dose in the past 24 hours.

According to the District Health Officer (DHO), Islamabad, the ICT detected a total 284 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours by carrying out 4,509 tests with a positivity rate of 6.30, which is above the national positivity ratio of 6.12 percent.
