KARACHI: Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association (PBEA) has welcomed the appointment of Asim Ahmad as the new Chairman of the FBR.
In a statement released here on Thursday, the PBEA stated that Asim Ahmad has vast experience in the FBR and is well versed in Information Technology which is of paramount importance in today’s environment.
He will be a valuable asset in the newly appointed finance team headed by a young and energetic Finance Minister Hammad Azhar and extremely competent Finance Secretary, Kamran Ali Afzal backed by a well versed and experienced adviser to the PM on Finance Shaukat Tarin.
On behalf of Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association, Chairman PBEA Rehmat Naveed Elahi congratulates the new team which was extremely necessary at this point of time. He said that the government should now focus on expanding the tax base rather than harassing the current taxpayers who are already in the tax net.
He said that the business community spent more time dealing with government agencies, responding to the notices and facing audits rather than focusing on expansion of his business and the country’s exports.
In addition, the tax refunds worth billions are still up stuck with the finance department putting undue pressure on the industry during the ongoing pandemic, he said and added that a professional team could understand the issue of the industry particularly bedwear and rest of the other organized business sectors as a whole.—PR
