ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has linked ouster of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government with holding of dialogue with the “establishment” from the platform of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

In an interview with BBC Urdu, Maryam, the daughter of former premier Nawaz Sharif, stated: “Dialogue [with the military establishment] could be considered from the platform of the PDM, provided the “fake” government is sent packing”.

The video interview of Maryam Nawaz was later also shared to the media by the PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb.

“The Army is our institution. We will definitely talk, but within the parameters of the Constitution…. if anybody tries to get out of the “crease” and play…Talks can only be held within the limits set by the Constitution and it will be in front of the public, not in secret,” she said in response to a question as to whether the PML-N was ready to hold talks with the current military leadership.

She said that if there would be any talk that should be within the parameters of the Constitution, and not be held in secret.

Maryam further said hat that she was not against the institution, “but if we are to move forward, then this government will have to go”. She said that talks could be held with all the stakeholders.

When asked whether the PML-N is also ready to hold talks with the PTI government, she said that dialogue with the government could not be held, adding: “Now the dialogue will be held with the people and it is ongoing”.

“Dialogue with the people is underway and it is good enough that all the powers that be and the “fake” government are getting nervous.
