Published November 12, 2020

(Karachi) Afghanistan ambassador to Pakistan called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed issues of mutual interest, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated on Thursday.

The military's media wing said, "Afghanistan ambassador 2 #Pakistan met #COAS. COAS welcomed Amb & expressed hope that his services will help optimize Pak - Afg bilateral relations."

The statement added, "Regional security situation, ongoing Afghan Peace Process, border management & defence and security cooperation were discussed."

The Afghan diplomat's visit comes amid the ongoing intra-Afghan talks. Pakistan has played a key role in taking the peace process between the Afghan government and the Taliban forward. Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that successful culmination of the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process is indispensable for Afghanistan and for regional peace.

He also urged all the stakeholders to seize the historic opportunity in order to put an end to the long military conflict.
