Smart lockdown imposed in several areas of Multan, Rawalpindi

  • The government has also imposed a lockdown in 11 areas in Lahore till November 19.

Following a spike in the coronavirus cases, a smart lockdown has been imposed in several areas of Multan and Rawalpindi from today.

According to a notification, the Punjab Government has ordered controlled entry and exit in areas of Rawalpindi, and Multan identified as hotspots of COVID-19 disease with immediate effect till November 19.

On Monday, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) had said that the coronavirus positivity rate is 15.97% in Multan. In Multan, a smart lockdown has been imposed in Naqshabad, Gulgasht Colony, Khawajabad, Sadad Colony and Mepco colony. Whereas in Rawalpindi, Abbasi Abad, Fauji Foundation University, Lalazar, Satellite Town and Government girls high school, Kahuta has been under lockdown.

During this period, all markets, shopping malls, restaurants and offices will remain closed, while all hospitals and medical stores in these areas will remain open. Public and private transport has been banned while only one person per vehicle to and from shall be allowed movement to avail exempted facilities.

The government has also imposed a smart lockdown in several areas in Lahore. A smart lockdown has been imposed in New Muslim Town, Raza, Sikandar, Umar blocks of Iqbal Town, in Garden Town areas, Cavalary Ground, DHA Phase 1 (AA Block), DHA Phase 6 L Sector, A Sector, Askari 11, Anarkali, Mozang, Shadman and Gulshan-i-Ravi.
