Reversing Trump's actions: Biden plans to increase tally of H-1B visa

(Karachi) Aiming to reverse Trump's actions, US President-elect Joe Biden is likely to abolish the limit on employment-based visa and increase the tally of high-skilled visas, including the H-1B, Bloomberg Quint reported on Monday.
Both the moves are expected to benefit India in terms of assisting Indian professionals, who were affected by Trump administration’s policies on immigration. H-1B visas are a non-immigrant visa that allows American companies to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.
As per the article, Biden might reverse the policy made by Trump administration. It said that the policy document issued by the Biden campaign states, "High skilled temporary visas should not be used to disincentivize recruiting workers already in the US for in-demand occupations. An immigration system that crowds out high-skilled workers in favour of only entry-level wages and skills threatens American innovation and competitiveness."
The new administration will first work with the Congress to reform temporary visas to establish wage-based allocation process. The US President-elect will then support expanding the number of high skilled visas and eliminate the limits on employment-based visas, it read.
According to the policy document, Biden opine that keeping families together and letting eligible immigrants join their American relatives on US soil is critically important, and the current system is poorly designed with per-country caps that prevent applications from being approved in a timely fashion.
Earlier in July, President Trump suspended new work visas and barred hundreds of thousands of foreigners from seeking employment in the United States, part of efforts to limit the entry of immigrants into the country.
The US administration blocked visas for a wide variety of jobs, including those for computer programmers and other skilled workers who enter the country under the H-1B visa, as well as those for seasonal workers in the hospitality industry, students on work-study summer programs etc, the New York Times had stated.
The order also restricted the ability of American companies with global operations and international organizations with US branches to transfer foreign executives and other employees to the United States for months or years long period.
