KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 213,039 tonnes of cargo comprising 193,662 tonnes of import cargo and 19,377 tonnes of export cargo including 5,568 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 193,662 tonnes comprised of 58,346 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,321 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,599 tonnes of sugar; 10,132 tonnes of DAP and 16,647 tonnes of wheat and 99,617 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 19,377 tonnes comprised of 19,377 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 5,568 containers comprising of 4,179 containers import and 1,389 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,185 of 20’s and 1,203 of 40’s loaded while 430 of 20’s and 79 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 641 of 20’s and 164 of 40’s loaded containers while 90 of 20’s and 165 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Southampton Express, Castor-N, Ulanga, OEL Kedarnath, MT Karachi, Green Belt and Costas carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are four ships namely Southampton Express, Castor-N, MOL Grandour and Green Belt carrying containers and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Wednesday while two ships namely OEL Kedarnath and Gulf Trader carrying containers and wheat respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.

There are three vessels viz. Xin Shanghai, Redros and Rouros carrying containers, wheat and mogas respectively expected due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 245,826 tonnes comprising 206,667 tonnes of import cargo and 39,159 tonnes of export cargo including 5,276 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 206,667 tonnes includes 52,707 tonnes of coal; 52,138 tonnes of LNG; 13,837 tonnes of soyabean; 22,000 tonnes of mogas; 1,400 tonnes of LPG; 3,500 tonnes of chemical and 61,085 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 39,159 tonnes includes 39,159 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 5,276 containers comprising of 3,215 containers import and 2,061 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Maersk Bentonville carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely Glafkos carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, soyabean, LPG, LNG and mogas respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. BBC Ersa, Esperaanza-N, MS Amis Wisdom-III, Serene Amolia, Sea Brave, Star Altair, Tomson Gas, Gas Zeus, BW Despina, Ploutos, Khair Pure and Facility carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, cement, LPG, mogas, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Esperaanza-N, Sea Brave and Ince Evrenye carrying containers, cement and sugar respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Grains and Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Ince Evrenye carrying sugar due to arrive on Wednesday while two ships namely Express Athens and Josephine Maersk carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
