Sindh govt, HEC agree to form combined accreditation system

(Karachi) The Sindh government and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have agreed on forming a combined accreditation system in order to support students and the future of universities in accordance with the market changes and demands, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

A meeting was held between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Tariq Banuri to discuss plans to increase the standard of the higher education.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial chief asked the HEC to bring improvements in increasing the standard of higher education.

Murad said that the provincial government is ready to work together with the HEC. He urged Banuri that an effective strategy should be formulated in accordance with the constitutional provisions to improve the quality of education.

The provincial government and HEC agreed to design the unified accreditation system. The chief minister said that Sindh government will take responsibility for monitoring and evaluation of the universities, whereas, an academic audit system should be designed for the higher education institutions.

Murad Ali Shah also asked HEC top officials not to make decisions that were taken without consulting all provinces.
