NAB wants Shehbaz Sharif's name on no-fly list

  • The SC will hear the case on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court (SC) has set up October 27 to hear the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) appeal to put Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).

A bench comprising Justice Musheer Alam will hear NAB's appeal on Tuesday, local media reported. NAB had filed an appeal following the Lahore High Court's order to remove Shehbaz's name from the ECL.

The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly is currently in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail on judicial remand in the money laundering case. He was arrested on September 28, after the LHC rejected his bail plea.

NAB filed a Rs8 billion reference of money laundering against the PML-N leader, his two sons and other family members. The main suspects are his wife Nusrat Shehbaz, his sons Hamza Shehbaz and Suleman Shehbaz, daughters Rabia Imran and Javeria Ali.

The accountability watchdog said that Shehbaz's family received fake foreign remittances of billions in their personal bank accounts. It added that the family has failed to justify the sources of funds used for the acquisition of assets.
