Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to take strict action against hoarders, saying that the situation would improve significantly if hoarding was brought under control.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan on controlling inflation on Tuesday, in which the Tiger Force got the first task to discourage hoarding.

The meeting decided to start the pilot project from Islamabad and initially 9,000 shops in Islamabad would be monitored. Rate lists and overcharging will be monitored at all shops in Islamabad and the Tiger Force will immediately identify excess stock or stockpiling. The district administration will take immediate action on the Tiger Force's identification.

It was stated in the meeting that the report of the operations would be submitted directly to the Prime Minister while the vendors would face heavy fines in case of non-display of rate list or overcharging.

Addressing the meeting, PM Imran Khan said that the main cause of inflation in the country is hoarding. If we control hoarding, the situation will improve significantly.
