  • The FIR stated that Sanaullah and other PML-N supporters attending the PDM Gujranwala public meeting on October 16 attempted to hit police personnel with their vehicle

(Karachi) Punjab police have registered an attempted murder case against PML-N Punjab president Rana Sanaullah, former federal minister Khurram Dastagir Khan, party MPA Imran Khalid Butt and others, media has reported.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of sub-inspector Asghar Hussain at the Satellite Town police station.

According to the FIR, four PML-N supporters attending the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Gujranwala public meeting on October 16 attempted to hit police personnel with their vehicle.

Meanwhile, the police also lodged a first information report (FIR) against the organisers of the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Gujranwala event.

As per details, the Civil Line police lodged the FIR against the PDM leaders for violating their agreement with the district administration, on the basis of which they were given permission to hold a public meeting.

The opposition parties, as part of PDM event, established camps in Kamoki, Ghakhar and other areas and brought vehicles into prohibited areas by removing roadblocks in violation of the agreement.

The FIR stated that those convicted from courts delivered speeches and shouted slogans against the government and state institutions at the event that was held on October 16. Besides, the organisers used loudspeakers in violation of the Amplifier Act.

The participants also blocked the GT Road near Sialkoti Gate and Ghondlanwala Adda, the report stated.

On October 16, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of major political parties, began its countrywide protest campaign against the incumbent government by holding a power show in Gujranwala.

The PDM was formed last month and had planned six big rallies across the country until December to force the government to call fresh elections.
