MYC issues joint declaration: Sectarian crisis being created under int'l conspiracy

LAHORE: Pakistan is being pushed towards sectarian crisis under the international conspiracy to create a Middle East like situation in the only nuclear power of the Muslim world, read a joint declaration adopted by the Supreme Council of the Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), a conglomerate of around 22 religious and political parties and organizations, here at Jamaat-e-Islami headquarters Mansoora on Thursday.

The MYC president Dr Abual Khair Zubair discussed current prevailing political situation of the country. The joint declaration described "Enforcement of Nizam-e-Mustafa is the solution to the all problems of Pakistan," read the joint communiqué, suggesting removal of the anti-Islam clauses from the constitution of Pakistan and introduction of laws derived from the teachings of Quran and Sunnah".

The declaration condemned the killing of Islamic scholar Dr Adil Khan in Karachi and linked the tragic incident to the ongoing conspiracy of initiating sectarian violence in Pakistan. The sequence in the incidents of recent attacks on the family members and companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and on the finality of the prophet hood were the proof of the fact that some forces wanted to destabilize the country, it said, adding the government in overall scenario was acting as silent spectator and it did nothing to calm the situation and expose the conspirators.

The government on the other side, read the declaration, failed to take decisive action for the Kashmir cause which was tantamount to facilitate New Delhi's control on the held area. The MYC also expressed concern over the recognition of Israel by some Muslim countries. It demanded the OIC take strong stand against it and devises a strategy for the independence of Palestine and Kashmir.

The meeting condemned the massive inflation, unemployment and horrible rape incidents due to worst law and order situation, saying the overall situation exposed the government incapability and failure, inviting the people wrath and frustration against the rulers. It called for introduction of interest-free economy to put the country on the path of development.

The government was asked to take back the FATF-related legislations, saying the laws aimed at compromising the country's freedom to the international powers and lending agencies. The meeting vowed to resist the government attempts to secularize the educational curriculum and take control to the mosques and religious seminaries through the introduction of Waqf Bill.

JI chief Sirajul Haq hosted the event and later talking to journalists he condemned the government's undemocratic act to create hurdles in the way of opposition protest. He also appreciated the MYC efforts to keep intact the religious harmony in the country. To a question, he replied the JI devised a plan to launch a separate campaign against the government, focusing the real issues facing the people.

Heads and representatives of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan-Noorani, the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, the Tehreek-e-Islam, the Tehreek Jawanan Pakistan, the Majlise Wahdatul Muslimeen, the Jamiat Ahle Hadith, the Markazi Ulema Council, the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad, the Tehreek-e-Awaisia and others were present on the occasion.
