KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Monday put on high alert all hospitals and 1122 rescue services in wake of heat wave forecast by Meteorological Department.

All departments of Medical and Health Services are asked to remain on their toes to cope with any untoward situation. All concerned officials and staffers have also been asked to remain on duty around the clock.

Focal persons of the hospitals are directed to make foolproof arrangements in the wake of heat wave alert. Concerned officials are asked to ensure implementation of directives in true letter and spirit.

The KMC has made public details of heat stroke centres established at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, Gizri Maternity Hospital, Landhi Medical Complex, Sarfaraz Rafeeqi Shaheed Hospital, Primary Healthcare Centre Lyari, Gizarabad General Hospital, Leprosy Hospital Manghopir, Homeopathic Hospital Nazimabad, Cardiac Centre Shah Faisal, Cardiac Centre Landhi, Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases and Karachi Institute of Health Heart Diseases. The numbers of focal persons of these centres have also been issued.

Meanwhile, Medical and Health Services department issued an advisory for the people and asked them to adopt precautionary measures. The citizens are asked to drink water and ORS to remain save from dehydration.

The people were also asked to avoid going out unnecessary and wear caps while working or going outside.
