KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 147,184 tonnes of cargo comprising 85,546 tonnes of import cargo and 61,638 tonnes of export cargo including 8,458 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 85,546 tonnes comprised of 51,886 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,420 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,740 tonnes of wheat and 25,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 61,638 tonnes comprised of 34,011 tonnes of containerised cargo and 27,627 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 8,458 containers comprising of 3,254 containers import and 5,204 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,396 of 20’s and 881 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 48 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 972 of 20’s and 512 of 40’s loaded containers while 1,472 of 20’s and 868 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Ningbo Express, MOL Globe, Ubena, Avanti and Adastar carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Rome Express, Hyundai Privilege, MSC Tavvshi, Lime Galaxy and MT Shalamar carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely RDO Fortune carrying containers to sail on Wednesday while another ship namely Dolce Vita-1 carrying general cargo is expected to sail on Thursday.

There are five vessels viz. Carl Schulte, MSC Chiara, Moen Island, MT Quetta and Da Tong Yun carrying containers oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while six vessels viz. OOCL Guangzhou, Fos Spirit, Al Mahboobah, Jin Tao, Grace and Athina-III carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, clinker and wheat respectively are expected due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 184,348 tonnes comprising 153,302 tonnes of import cargo and 31,046 tonnes of export cargo including 5,016 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 153,302 tonnes tonnes includes 60,388 tonnes of coal; 13,500 tonnes of palm oil; 8,833 tonnes of chemical; 490 tonnes of project cargo; 5,833 tonnes of gas oil and 64,258 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 31,046 tonnes includes 31,046 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 5,016 containers comprising of 3,382 containers import and 1,634 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely Da Tong Yun, Kastro and Greenwich Park carrying general cargo, coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely Sphene carrying containers expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola, chemical, mogas and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Global Rose, Asai Zircon-II, SBI Achillos, Star Hercules, African Starling, Gas Athena, White Purl, Coal Explorer, Gaslog Shanghai, Gulf Coast, Al-Salam-II and Gulf Pearl carrying steel coil, coal, cement, LNG, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and condensate respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. Maersk Denver, MSC Esthi, Manta Asli, Singapore Eagle, Greenwich Park, Leader and Chemroad Ecco carrying containers, coal, chemical, gasoline and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Densor Jaguar carrying seeds due to arrive on Wednesday while two more ships namely Alidi Wave and George Washington carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
