Pakistan Army is “the guarantor of the survival and security of Pakistan”, according to Sindh Governor
KARACHI: Yesterday, the Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail, from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI), stated that Pakistan is not only a nuclear power but also one of the most vibrant members of the Islamic world - with the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and the Leader of the House also present at the occasion.
In the context of the prevailing situation in the region, especially in the Islamic world, Ismail stated that “we have to show our unity, solidarity, harmony, and exemplary mutual coordination in accordance with the Islamic ideology”, adding that “the role of scholars in this regard is also very important”.
Ismail added that “the eyes of the enemy are on our Armed Forces” and that “they are afraid of this great force”, postulating that “they” are attempting to create differences between the Armed Forces and the people - which could be a subtle nod towards former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and the recently formed coalition of opposition parties, and their tirade against state institutions. Ismail mentioned that “no other Islamic country in the world has Armed Forces like Pakistan”, and that the Pakistan Army is “the guarantor of the survival and security of Pakistan”.
The Governor also spoke of the lack of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in political rallies which are poised to be held this week, adding that “this is not the right time to hold rallies, as coronavirus SOPs cannot be followed”, and further stating that “the whole world has adopted the Prime Minister’s formula of a smart lockdown”.
