(Karachi) Punjab police have registered a case against PML-N founder Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar in Gujranwala for making anti-state remarks, media has reported. The police also nominated PML-N MPA Imran Khalid Butt in the case.

According to details, the case has been registered at Satellite Town police station against Safdar for threatening the government and spreading hatred against state institutions. Safdar held a press conference at Butt’s residence on October 2 (Friday) ahead of Maryam’s rally where he allegedly made the remarks.

The case was registered under sections 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 124A (Sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the Punjab police have constituted a special team to arrest Captain (retired) Safdar and other PML-N leaders after they were booked in the said case.

Safdar is already facing a case of inciting clashes outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office during the appearance of Maryam Nawaz. He is on bail till October 6.

On August 12, Lahore police had registered a case against 300 PML-N leaders including its Vice President Maryam Nawaz on the complaint of the National Accountability Bureau after violent clashes outside the NAB office.
