A high-profile delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) called of Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Saturday.

The delegation comprising lawmakers Aminul Haque, Khawaja Izharul Hasan and Kanwar Naveed Jameel discussed different development projects initiated by the federal government during the meeting at the Governor house.

The meeting was also attended by Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Dr Fehmida Mirza and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Muhammad Mian Soomro.

The federal minister gave a briefing to the leaders of the coalition parties regarding Karachi Transformation Plan and other development projects. Other matters such as, financial package, cleanliness, transport and water supply in the port city were also discussed.

Imran Ismail said that Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan and the federal government is taking special measures for the development of the metropolis over the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said that the financial package announced for Karachi is part of PM Imran Khan’s vision. The governor added that everyone has a responsibility to develop Karachi.

Earlier, PM Imran Khan in his visit to Karachi last month unveiled a "historic" financial package worth Rs1.1 trillion for Karachi's transformation.

The city's drainage and sewerage issues were brought into national focus in August after record-breaking monsoon rains caused widespread devastation and left dozens dead.
