KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 184,023 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,110 tonnes of import cargo and 80,913 tonnes of export cargo including 8,354 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 103,110 tonnes comprised of 46,806 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,221 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,007 tonnes of DAP; 12,069 tonnes of wheat and 35,007 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 80,913 tonnes comprised of 45,865 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32,748 tonnes of clinkers and 2,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,354 containers comprising of 2,999 containers import and 5,355 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,223 of 20's and 888 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,164 of 20's and 731 of 40's loaded containers while 809 of 20's and 960 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely APL Chongqing, Wan Hai-613, Shiling, Oriental Viola, Xin Xiang Hai and Aal Kobe carrying containers, oil tankers. Wheat, fertilizer, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Kalamoti Trader, Hyundai Platinum, MT Karachi, Chem Argon and DS Cougar carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely MOL Generosity and DS Cougar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively to sail on Thursday.

There are three vessels viz. Cosco Taicang, Xin Qing Dao and Tai Splendor carrying containers, oil tankers and clinker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. Northern Discovery, MT Lahore, Eships Progress and Morgenstond-II carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and project cargo are expected due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 161,010 tonnes comprising 103,292 tonnes of import cargo and 58,618 tonnes of export cargo including 3,705 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 103,292 tonnes tonnes includes 26,000 tonnes of coal; 25,572 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,274 tonnes of palm kernel; 14,000 tonnes of canola; 18,234 tonnes of chemical and 16,112 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 58,618 tonnes includes 4,335 tonnes of cement and 54,283 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,705 containers comprising of 848 containers import and 2,857 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There was one ship namely America carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely Maersk Columbus, Ginga Jaguar and Melody carrying containers, chemical and furnace oil respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, chemical, canola, LPG, furnace oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Butterfly, Safmarine Nyassa, Datong Yun, Global Rose, Kastro, Manta Asli, Valkyie, Msxt Astria, Tomson Gas, Gas Athena, White Purl, Gulf Coast, Leader and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Maersk Bentonville, CMA CGM Butterfly, Msxt Astria, Tomson Gas and Lina carrying containers, coal, LPG and mogas respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There are three ships namely Maersk Bentonville, Lia and Kano carrying containers, mogas and LNG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
