Water supply, drainage system: KW&SB MD directs officials for redressal of grievances

KARACHI: Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) Asadullah Khan has directed officials of the board to focus all their attention on redressal of grievances related to water supply and drainage system of the city.

In compliance with the instructions of Minister for Local Government and Chairman Water Board, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Khan said no negligence would be accepted regarding the supply and equitable distribution of available water to remote and low lying areas of the city.

"Consumers should be treated with kindness by the Water Board officials," he said.

Asadullah Khan was addressing a special meeting of the officers immediately after taking charge of the post of the MD on Saturday last. He said KW&SB has always been on the front line to help citizens in difficult times whether in heavy rains or winter, festivals or a law and order situation, or the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that Water board employees perform their duties diligently, which is why they are being given respect from the society. The recent unprecedented rains have caused extensive damage to the waterboard's sewerage lines, and pumping stations.

The MD Water board instructed officers to submit a detailed report on affected supply and drainage lines and other installations as soon as possible. He asked the officials concerned to make immediate replacement of collapsing lines on a priority basis, and closely monitor valve operation and use modern technology to identify illegal connections.
