KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 150,066 tonnes of cargo comprising 113,760 tonnes of import cargo and 36,306 tonnes of export cargo including 6,517 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 113,760 tonnes comprised of 41,514 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,482 tonnes of bulk cargo; 11,730 tonnes of DAP; 12,622 tonnes of wheat; 8,500 tonnes of rock phosphate and 27,912 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 36,306 tonnes comprised of 26,506 tonnes of containerised cargo and 9,800 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 6,517 containers comprising of 2,888 containers import and 3,629 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 732 of 20's and 1,065 of 40's loaded while 06 of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 658 of 20's and 696 of 40's loaded containers while 205 of 20's and 687 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Hong Kong Express, MOL Grandeur, MT Lahore and Asavari carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Moen Island, MT Quetta, Jag Aanchal, Ince Kastamonu and Xin Xiang Hai carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely OOCL California, Moen Island and Al Mahboobah carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on Thursday.

There are two vessels viz. Botany Bay and Straum carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while five vessels viz. Northern Dedication, Wan Hai-613, Trugen, Oriental Viola and Canadian Highway carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively are expected due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 171,119 tonnes comprising 114,766 tonnes of import cargo and 56,353 tonnes of export cargo including 3,805 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 114,766 tonnes tonnes includes 24,276 tonnes of coal; 43,750 tonnes of LNG; 10,188 tonnes of palm oil; 1,736 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,896 tonnes of chemical; 1,261 tonnes of LPG and 29,659 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 56,353 tonnes includes 9,274 tonnes of cement; 4,500 tonnes of naphtha and 42,579 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,805 containers comprising of 1,561 containers import and 2,244 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely APL New York and African Wagtail carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely Sea Rider, Josco Fu Zhou, Tiger Winter, Golar Snow and Victory carrying coal, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Aldi Wave, Athenian, GS Sky Herries, Kmarin Bosan, SBI Hermes, Tan Bin-127, Gas Amazon, Nord Venus, Leader, Adamos-1, Al-Soor-II and Melody carrying containers, coal, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Aldi Wave, Athenian, Kmarin Bosan and Adamos-1 carrying containers, coal and gas oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There are three ships namely Conti Courage, MOL Generosity and Lisa carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
