The issue of unannounced and prolonged load shedding of electricity has started to rise once again in different areas of Karachi.

Meanwhile, KE is of the view that the issue is due to low gas pressure that has adversely hit its generation capacity, as various areas suffer from 8 to 12 hours of load shedding.

Residents of North Karachi, Nazimabad, Surjani, Federal B Area, and Papush Nagar are among the worst hit.

Citizens say that frequent power outage has become a a norm whereas, citizens are paying monthly bills of thousands of rupees.

As per KE spokesman the power utility had been facing an ongoing issue of gas pressure from the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). the company informed that while the quantity of the required gas remained available, decreased pressure has led to decline in production of electricity.

This gas pressure issue created a supply gap of 400 megawatts at a time when demand was high.
