KARACHI: Spokesperson for Sindh government and advisor to CM Murtaza Wahab has urged the federal government to immediately resolve gas shortage issues faced by industry in Karachi.
Speaking at a meeting of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said that Sindh had the first right to gas which was discovered in the province, but the Federation had been depriving this city and province of this right.
He said that the federal government only provided Rs350 billion for the Karachi Transformation package, which doesn’t match PTI representation from Karachi. He said that many projects of Sindh government would be completed soon. Wahab said that Industry is our top priority and Sindh government is ready to provide any assistance to resolve their issues. He announced that a successful pilot project of palm oil plantation has started and production of oil on trial basis would be started soon.
Murtaza Wahab said that Malir expressway would be inaugurated next month. A 30-MDG water line for Karachi south would be established soon. He also agreed to legislate for a combine effluent plant for Karachi industrial area. President of KATI Sheikh Umer Rehan said that due to interruption of gas supply industrial production was facing a setback which could be disastrous for the country’s economy.
