ISLAMABAD: The incidents of robbery, dacoity, snatching at gunpoint, motor vehicle theft, murder and kidnapping showed an upward trend during the last week, in the heavily guarded federal Capital.

According to data gathered by Business Recorder, 11 cases of car lifting including motorbikes, 10 cases of various kinds of theft/robbery, dacoity and snatching at gunpoint, five cases of murder, and three cases of kidnapping were reported to the city's various police stations, during last week. During the last week, most favourite areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Koral, Shams Colony, Karachi Company, Golra, Sabzi Mandi, Shalimar, Sihala, and Lohi Bher police stations.

Two armed persons riding a bike assassinated Syed Raza Naqvi, 32, a sales manager of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Gulberg branch and resident of Garden Town in broad daylight in the limits of Koral Police Station.

Police registered a case on the complaint of the deceased's brother, Syed Aziz Naqvi and started an investigation. During another incident, unidentified attackers shot dead Zaheer Abbas, a resident of Taramri Irfan Abad in the limits of Koral Police Station, and escaped from the scene.

Four cases each of auto-theft and one case of snatching at gunpoint were reported to Shams Colony Police Station during the last week. Rizwan Ahmed lodged a complaint with Shams Colony Police Station that two armed persons snatched gold ornaments, and cash from his mother at gunpoint.

Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number IDH-1152 belonging to Shoaib Ahmed, lifted another car bearing registration number GH-256, took away a car bearing registration number ED-968 belonging to Aftab Hussain worth Rs 2,000,000, and also stole a bike bearing registration number BBM-3Q70 belonging to Abdul Hakeem.

During the last week, Golra Police Station registered two cases each of auto theft and one case of robbery. Carjackers stole a car bearing registration number AMB-952 belonging to Malik Khan Muhmmad worth Rs 3,000,000, and lifted another car bearing registration number LA-3395 worth Rs1,800,000 belonging to Shakeel Manzoor.

Hifsa Ashfaq informed Golra Police Station that accused Nawaz and others stole her bag from her car, cash, and gold ornament worth Rs 500,000. Karachi Company police station registered one case of dacoity and two cases each of auto theft during last week.

Qasir Aziz lodged a complaint with Karachi Company Police Station that four accused stormed into his house and held the whole family hostage at gunpoint, and looted cash and gold ornament worth Rs 2,000,000.
