LAHORE: Inaugurating the Harbanspura Rescue Station, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Monday that approval has been accorded for 76 new rescue stations across the province after which emergency services would be available at all tehsils of Punjab while motorbike ambulance service would also be established in all districts of Punjab.

This is one of the five newly-built rescue stations for Lahore aimed at provision of timely emergency services to the residents of Lahore. Five new rescue stations have been built in the areas of Harbanspura, Walled City, Shadbagh, Maraka and Kot Abdul Malick.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM congratulated President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari who identified the need for rescue service and requested to establish rescue station at Harbanspura.

He announced that within a few days, service structure will be notified for rescue employees, adding that the allowances of rescue staff would also be restored. Sardar Usman also announced that the fixed daily allowance of rescuers will be increased.

Earlier, DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer briefed that rescue service has rescued over 8.4 million, saved over Rs 450 billion due to timely response and professional management of over 150,000 fire incidents, and has become the first United Nations INSARAG Classified Team in South Asia. Over one million rescue scouts have been trained across Punjab and during Corona, rescuers provided services in shifting of patients, hospitals, disinfection and burials, he added.
